Frequently Asked Questions

  • The initial session includes a complete health history and treatment and lasts around thirty to forty-five minutes. Needles are inserted for about ten to thirty during the first and subsequent treatments. (Cats usually have the needles in closer to ten to fifteen minutes.)

  • I usually sit with the pet parent during the first session while the animal becomes acclimated to what it feels like. During follow-up treatments, pets can often relax without the parent being nearby.

  • Pain disorders, post-surgical issues, low appetite, low energy, respiratory disorders and digestive issues (diarrhea/constipation). Click here for more information.

  • Chronic pain, digestive issues, low energy, chemo side effects and more.

  • The aim of my sessions is to be gentle and focused to minimize the number of needles. I focus on points near the spine, around the ears, shoulders, stifles (knees), hips and upper legs.

It is normal for your dog or cat to be tired the day of the treatment. If the pet is constipated, sometimes they have a bowel movement soon afterwards.

  • Currently I only do home visits.

  • I usually treat dogs and cats in Northampton and Easthampton, but I travel to nearby areas as well (including Hadley, Amherst, Southampton, Holyoke). Feel free to email or call 518.669.1233 to find out if I service your area.

  • Rates vary from $110 to $200+ per treatment,, depending on where you live.

Pet insurance often covers acupuncture. I am happy to provide a receipt to you for reimbursement purposes.

  • Usually 4-6 weekly visits to start. However, every dog is different, and the number of treatments depends on their condition (severity and how long they have had it).
